The Display
We are usually talking about a phone’s design and build before any other thing. But here and today we shall do things a little different. The reason being with Huawei Y9s the display therein is its key selling point.
Why so? First of all, facing you is its extraordinary Ultra FullView display. What comes to mind when you hear FullView? Think about it even if for a second. It simply means the whole display, or close. A 91% screen-to-body ratio. That’s what’s up although Huawei almost make us believe its 100% but looking at the phone, I think the attempt is decent.
This FullView display has been achieved also because of the mechanics of a motorized pop up selfie camera. Over the months it has proven almost impossible to achieve a screen-to-body ratio this tight without involving the selfie camera one way or the other.
Another thing about it, the display, that must strike you is its resolution. Dear reader, a display panel with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution is what I like to refer to as an Any day, Any time type of display. Although it isn’t that all crisp because of the display size, 6.59 inches, it is quite decent. The slight and unnoticeable drop we can pardon.
Had the panel been maybe to the size of original Huawei Y9s’s we’d be talking one of the best displays on a Huawei smartphone at this price point. And the 391 ppi density would in turn be higher. You will still love its clear and bright colors nevertheless and its fullness will bring your edifying satisfaction to when they meet the eye.
The Cameras
Huawei Y9s has also brought to the palm by far improved camera performance over its predecessor. With it is a 48MP triple camera setup. Well, the main lens is 48MP and the other two 8MP and 2MP respectively. The most work will always be credited to the main 48MP ultra clear lens while depth sensing will be well managed by the 2MP and in case you need more detail fitted in photo, that 8MP’s wide lens will always be at you disposal.
Let’s talk a bit more on this shall we? Its features mostly and to begin with I must tell you that the 48MP camera is an AI shooting lens. This works to your advantage in the sense that the end result of applied algorithms will effectively help you get sharp, refined and clear images.
Its Ultra Wide camera lens stretches to a 1200 angle to capture fit in more field.
Alright s what is the big deal with the selfie camera here? The truth is there isn’t so much difference from the selfie camera we saw on Huawei Y9 (2019). And both are 2019 phone’s by the way. Most, if not all the improvements were focused on the main camera. What this one can individually boast of is that it has AI beauty algorithm which helps in doing retouch of the images attained and make it focus more keenly on the subject. It is also a motorized piece of hardware that pops up when prompted and retracts afterwards. Still it is a good selfie shooter I will not rob it of its credit.
Platform and Battery Performance
Battery
Huawei assures up to 40 hours of continuous calling, music playback of 80 hours and up to 9 hours of video playback. Its power packed 4000mAh capacity is the kind that would easily see you through a whole day of mixed usage.
Platform
The focus here is on its improved Kirin 710F Octa-core chipset. It (Huawei Y9s) has received a 75% boost of CPU performance upgrade, 68% multi core CPU performance upgrade and an immense 130% GPU upgrade.
The chipset has better enhanced running speed and it lowers power consumption: safe to say, it is battery life friendly, and who wouldn’t want that? EMUI 9.1 also has its random read performance improved as well as application start up.
Huawei Y9s in Kenya is an affordable smartphone option. It is one easy to recommend because of its camera performance and well a some other improvements over its predecessor the Y9 (2019).
It is a splendid budget smartphone with more hits than bearable misses. A fun option to consider I would say. Buy this one for its main camera and probably its display too. It will not let you down with these two. Be sure to read the review of Huawei Y9 (2019) as well.
